The Dynamics of a Good Video Crew
Do you guys remember that brilliant and famous eighties series “The A-Team”. Hannibal uses this cool phrase: “I love it when a plan comes together”. For us it really sums up the work we’ve been doing with our mates Andy and Donna from Low’n’Slow barbecue. Teamwork is key.
The A-team is all about teamwork. Different people with different backgrounds and different skill sets. Faceman is a master of the persuasive arts, and B.A. Baracus is the muscle. The same goes for us and our amazing video crew. Each crew member has their own particular set of skills. Andy is a great camera operator, and Lou is our motion graphics specialist.
As you might have seen, we’ve been producing kickstarter videos for Andy Stubbs who runs Low’n’Slow Barbecue here in Birmingham. The production of this range of videos has been an exemplary exhibition of proper planning and teamwork between him with his amazing food, us as the video producer. There are many more videos in the pipeline for this project. But we already love the way this plan is coming together. This team complemented each other in all areas of the project. It required three camera operators, a motion graphic designer, a sound recordist, an editor and a general producer. A lot of people, but we’re more then happy with the end result.
I conceptualised and planned the entire series of kickstarter videos. Andy and Lou filmed the sequences in Andy’s kitchen, while Alex filmed the scenes at the Birmingham Street Food Festival. Lou worked on the animated intro and outro graphics that really captured the style and personality of Andy and what he does. Alex then worked on the edits of the different kickstarter videos, each one focusing on a different aspect of why he needs this kickstarted money and how it will improve his food.
