Reducing emissions
Webster & Horsfall, a historic Birmingham-based manufacturer with a 300-year heritage, specialises in wire and wire rope solutions.
Committed to sustainability, the company is driving clean-tech advancements and transforming its industrial base into a leading green energy innovation quarter.
Webster’s primary sustainability challenge was reducing emissions from their fleet of LPG-powered forklift trucks. The use of these vehicles significantly impacted both the company’s carbon footprint and operational budget, conflicting directly with their net-zero ambitions.
Expert energy consultants identified immediate opportunities to reduce emissions by transitioning forklift operations from LPG to electric.
Webster & Horsfall secured funding for new electric forklifts, substantially cutting emissions by approximately seven tonnes annually. The saved funds have since been reallocated into further energy-efficiency measures, such as improved building insulation.
The switch to electric forklifts delivered immediate results, reducing both operational costs and environmental impact. Webster & Horsfall now enjoys lower emissions, streamlined operations, and stronger alignment with its net-zero roadmap.
Additionally, this shift has fostered new relationships with clients for broader collaborative opportunities, leading to new sustainability- focused projects within the Energy Park.
