Founded in 1986, Larkshill Engineering is a family-owned precision engineering company based in the West Midlands.

Employing around 30 skilled professionals, the company specialises in manufacturing precision components, tooling, gauges, and fixtures for demanding sectors including aerospace, oil and gas, nuclear, and defence.

Significant investment in CNC machinery and modern plant facilities ensures Larkshill consistently meets the high standards required by its clients.

As energy costs surged, managing increasing operational expenses became a major challenge. The company faced substantial pressure due to high-energy demands from machinery and outdated buildings requiring extensive heating and temperature regulation.

To overcome these challenges, Larkshill comissioned a thorough energy audit, resulting solar panel installation emerged as the optimal solution for significantly cutting energy costs and reducing environmental impact.

Taking advantage of the southwest-facing facility roof, a 48-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system was installed, ensuring a smooth transition to solar energy.

Since installing the solar panels in July 2024, Larkshill Engineering has seen a nearly 50% reduction in energy costs – far surpassing initial expectations. On peak production days, the solar panels generate up to 40kWh, offsetting energy consumption and returning surplus to the grid, creating additional income.

These savings allow strategic reinvestment in staff training, advanced machinery, and business expansion.

The successful implementation has positioned Larkshill for sustainable growth and reinforced its commitment to environmental responsibility.
